~ Class Information ~

Cairo Fusion offers technique-specific classes of all levels, along with private instruction.  Our basis is American style bellydance fused with Tribal and many contemporary and urbanized styles of dance.

Our teaching technique is very thorough, and disciplined, with great emphasis on creating true performers and nurturing essential sisterhood.  All dancers specialize in dancing as a group... as sisters.

NO students are required to perform.  Performance is elective to each individual.  However, Cairo Fusion is a performance-based company and therefore, somewhat more demanding and disciplined than many comparable forms of dance.

Classes are taught in a course-style format.   The classes are very fast-paced and require both determination and dedication.  In order to become a member of the Gypsy Echoes, ALL aspiring students are required to complete the 'Intro to Cairo Fusion Basics Course' (minimum of 8 months T&T).  At show time, we believe our performances better reflect the hard work and equality among our dancers.

 Meet the Instructors:

- Samira Il Naia -

-Director, instructor, and choreographer for Cairo Fusion-

"Since 1997, I have dabbled in the mysterious world of bellydance. In 2000, I became an independent soloist and the premiere dancer of Nada Brahma, an eclectic Boise-based band. I have also had the honor of collaborating with Brothers of the Baladi, Jeremiah Soto, Mediterranean RaqsBand, and Pangia. I feel that I will always be a student of the dance, and have been fortunate enough to take classes from Amy Sigil, Suhaila Salimpour, Rachel Brice, Morocco, Zoe Jakes, Mardi Love, Freyja, Kami Liddle, and Monica Fernandez. In solo performance, I seek to demonstrate the importance of audience participation while specializing in the art of progressive bellydance fusion, improvisational dance, and the essential dancer/live musician connection.
Although Cairo Fusion entered the world in 2004, I feel that our true identity was born after encountering UNMATA and Shimmy Shakti in 2005. Since then, dance has taken on a whole new meaning to me. I find no greater pleasure than sharing the stage with my girls, and continually creating our signature style and technique. The highlight of it all--Watching my girls explode into super-hot, confident rock stars!!

 - Jeanne -

-Assistant Director & Cairo Fusion instructor-

"While I've always loved and appreciated dance, it wasn't until fall of 2000 that I took it up for myself - in the form of ballroom and swing dancing with my husband.  However, having seen Samira dance many times, I knew my true love was bellydance.  I took a few random community education classes, then finally found my true dance "home" in January of 2006 with Cairo Fusion.  Shortly thereafter, I found out I was pregnant.  I danced through my entire pregnancy, even performing two weeks before my son was born in early December 2006.  In January 2007, I joined Mazana, and now enjoy an unparalleled energy, focus, discipline and drive for bellydance fusion.  My true passion is group dance, large or small, where the community and synergy of sharing the stage with my sisters is an experience above all others."

 - Za'Nyah -

-Instructor-

Za'Nyah has taken dance since the age of 3, first with ballet and jazz and later adding tap, lyrical, hip hop, Pointe, salsa, and musical theater. After achieving a BA in Theater Arts in 2004 from Central Washington University, Za'Nyah moved Boise, where she found and fell in love with belly dance. Beginning with traditional forms taught by Sidonia, Za'Nyah found her place in the fusion world with Samira and Cairo Fusion. In 2007 Za'Nyah joined Mazana, where the strength and focus of the classes and choreographies (along with the wonderful sisterhood therein) really lit her fire to continue to improve her technique and experiment with any and all styles of fusion.

 - Zelah -

  -Instructor-

"I love that dance challenges me  - not only to look inward at my strengths and weaknesses, but also to move outward and try to express that extra "something" that turns the steps into a work of art that takes one's breath away."
